In this project-based course, students are going to work on a natural language processing challenge. A challenge is a practical task in NLP related to a particular research topic.
This is an introductory course to processing large amounts of textual data. The basics of language processing will be introduced both from a theoretical and practical perspectives.
This course, together with the subsequent courses Introduction to Programming II and Advanced Programming, constitutes a basic course unit in the curriculum of Information Science, where the student learns to program.
The Bachelors degree programme in Information Science is concluded by a research project of limited scope, in which students are expected to set up, conduct and report on their own research.
